Rays' Alexander Throws Perfect Game Through Six Innings
Palacios' Home Run Helps Rays Take Early Lead
Rays left-hander Tyler Alexander threw a perfect game through six innings against the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Alexander, a 29-year-old lefty acquired off waivers from Detroit in November, struck out eight batters and induced seven groundouts. He threw just 71 pitches, 51 for strikes.
The Rays took an early lead on a two-run home run by Richie Palacios in the first inning. Alexander has been one of the Rays' most effective pitchers this season, with a 3.00 ERA and 10.0 strikeouts per nine innings.
The game is ongoing, and Alexander will be looking to complete the perfect game in the seventh inning.
