De Bruynes Free Kick Seals 4 1 Aggregate Victory

Manchester City thrash Real Madrid to reach Champions League final

De Bruyne's free-kick seals 4-1 aggregate victory

Haaland and Akanji also on target as City dominate at the Etihad

Manchester City produced a stunning performance to thrash Real Madrid 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night and book their place in the Champions League final. Kevin De Bruyne's free-kick gave City the lead in the 76th minute, before Manuel Akanji added a second just two minutes later. Erling Haaland then sealed the victory with a third goal in the 81st minute. The result means that City have won 4-1 on aggregate, having drawn 1-1 in the first leg in Madrid. They will now face Liverpool in the final in Paris on May 28. City were dominant from the start, and they created a number of chances in the first half. However, they were unable to find a way past Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Haaland had a golden opportunity to put City ahead from the penalty spot in the 20th minute, but he saw his effort saved by Courtois. City continued to press after the break, and they were finally rewarded when De Bruyne's free-kick found its way into the net. Akanji then doubled City's lead with a header from a corner, before Haaland added a third with a clinical finish. Real Madrid were unable to find a way back into the game, and they were eventually outclassed by a superior City side.
